When we help young children use conflict resolution skills, we help them “recalibrate” those angry and frustrated feelings. However, these moments can bring about much more than a feeling of calm. Guiding young children through a conflict resolution process lays the foundation for them becoming lifelong problem-solvers who are able to identify their own and others’ emotions, respectfully assert their needs, and take responsibility for their actions.
